Arborist Trainees

Arborist Trainees are responsible for maintenance and removal of trees and managing jobs from start to finish under the supervision and training of the Tree Care Foreman. Individuals in this position may provide supervision and training for Tree Care Laborers. Maintenance and completion of daily records and logs, as well as minor maintenance on equipment and vehicles may also a responsibility of this job. Job could include spraying or injecting of trees.

Essential Job Functions

  • Loads trucks with logs and debris often weighing 50 lbs. or more. Loads brush into chipper.
  • Uses hand lines and come-along to loosen limbs and pull trees for felling
  • Keeps work area clean and orderly
  • Carries, stows and lays out materials and equipment at worksite
  • Works from ground and ladders using handsaws, polesaws, pruners, loppers and gas-powered chainsaws
  • Drives trucks and operates other equipment as assigned
  • Services trucks and other equipment. Keeps trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly condition. Reports need for repairs and servicing of trucks and assigned equipment to Tree Care Foreman
  • Safeguards employees and public from in and around the work area, staying in voice communication with sawyers and workers aloft
  • Helps enforce safe job practices
  • Safely operate chainsaw to fell buck and limb trees
  • Operate tracked or rubber tired skidsteer with bucket and grapple attachment
  • Assist in tree removals involving cranes
  • Perform pruning to ANSI 300 standards

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid CO Driver's License
  • Clean Driving Record

  • Experience leading one or more crews and training team members to complete assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of basic construction techniques and safety practices.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in landscape construction, irrigation, and planting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Must have a valid driver license.

Compensation/Benefits:

Hourly rate ranges from $20 - $30 per hour depending on qualifications.


Maintenance Account Manager

This person will be responsible for maintaining an existing book of business while also prospecting, estimating on new projects. You will work directly with the operations manager to properly dispatch sold work and assist in managing job quality.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Commercial Account Managers coordinate sales between business units, completing duties such as meeting potential clients, determining their needs, presenting products training, attending industry events and responsible for a portfolio of commercial landscape maintenance accounts. We are looking for someone with drive, ambition, and highly motivated Sales Associate with extensive customer service to become part of our integrated commercial sales team. This includes maximizing customer satisfaction and ensuring delivery of quality services while achieving goals for revenue, profitability, and contract renewals through effective management.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Business Development - soliciting new commercial maintenance contracts.
  • Building an outstanding production team - developing employees and working with employees to build and support a team environment.
  • Managing and organizing production, exceed budget projections, client retention, people, and processes into a dynamic well-functioning business unit for our high-quality service including understanding basic horticultural concepts and always working efficiently and safely.

Job Summary: Leadership, training and operations of company systems and protocol.  Manage for increased field efficiencies through communication and scheduling of companywide resources. Immediate Requirements:

  • Verbal and written English skills with perhaps Spanish (bi-lingual) communication skills is desirable.
  • Proficient level of Landscape knowledge and skills in all aspects of installation with at least 7 years of field experience.
  • College education within the construction industry with preference toward a concentration in Landscape Construction Management.
  • Capable of jobsite management and all associated resource coordination through to project completion.
  • High level of customer service and communication skills with focus on managing client requests.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license with the assurance to be insurable under Ceres vehicle policy.

Immediate Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Relate the plan details to the proposal and estimate. Use details to create a sequence of work to help coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and labor skill sets as they relate to project tasks.
  • Organize daily work and communicate expectations clearly and effectively with all crew members.
  • Manage day to day field operations for several projects simultaneously including the management of up to 20 crew members.
  • Continual safety and quality assurance training of all crew members on a routine basis for general and specialized landscape construction tasks.
  • Assist with crew member relations including onboarding, training, regular review processes including both exemplary gratification notices and assistance with disciplinary concerns.
  • Manage unforeseen changes to daily operating schedule. Having the ability to spontaneously adjust to daily tasks / project sequencing to maintain productive and efficient work force.
  • The coordinated efforts required to assist with other company construction managers as they relate to crew member capacity, vehicle usage, materials, and equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of all project supporting costs and time tracking measures for owner progress reports and monthly billing cycles.
  • Meet productivity standards including the timely completion of work for the purpose of striving to increase productivity through efficient and effective measures while maintaining the project budget.
  • Ability to complete projects within allocated time and budget.

Future Responsibilities:

  • Field inbound estimate requests from Ceres account managers, designers, general contractors, and sales staff.
  • Utilize quantity take-off and estimating software to build project estimates and budgets.
  • Produce custom proposals and participate in cost estimate presentations to Ceres clients.
  • Proficiency with the use of communication tools and systems to track client information through

Salesforce, Dropbox, Teams, Outlook, Timberline estimating, Onscreen Takeoff, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Essential Job Elements: 

  • Properly identify and diagnose insects, weeds, fungus conditions, and pest prone areas.
  • Communicate with and educate the client regarding the diagnosis and the prescribed pest control and fertilization service.
  • Drive specialized PHC trucks.
  • Practice various PHC treatments such as: fertilization, soil amendments, pest and disease control measures.
  • Perform deep root injections, watering, and other PHC services.
  • Utilize environmentally friendly products to perform PHC treatments.
  • Prepare/mix pesticide sprays and other PHC solutions for treatments.
  • Assist in scheduling PHC treatments with Operations Supervisor.
  • Provide diagnostics and recommendations for biotic and abiotic conditions affecting trees and shrubs.
  • Perform prescribed integrated pest management and fertilization of trees and shrubs using spray, granular and injected products.
  • Assist tree crews performing tree removals, tree pruning, and stump grinding operations, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Equipment, Machine and Tool Use: 

  • Choose and load necessary daily equipment.
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment and vehicles.
  • Utilize specialized mechanical instruments such as: an air spade, skid steer, stump grinder, root exploration devices, and root pruners.
  • Perform basic maintenance of equipment and tools used.
  • Ensure PHC trucks are prepared, filled, and refueled for each workday.

 

Safe Work Practices: 

  • Choose and inspect personal protective equipment.
  • Inspect worksites and identify risks.
  • Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
  • Participates regularly in all job site safety meetings.

 

Reporting and Communication: 

  • Prepare and maintain records of pesticide use and monitoring forms, work orders, and equipment maintenance records.
  • Prepare and post public notices for pesticide applications or PHC treatments.
  • Provide customers with PHC information when necessary.

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Ceres Landcare performs services for a wide variety of clients in diverse locations from private gardens and backyards, to public spaces, or remote areas.
  • Majority of work time is spent in the field operating machinery or hand tools, performing PHC/arboricultural services, clean-up, and being courteous to customers.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outside is required, with duty modification during specific seasons throughout the year.
  • Office work and time needed to complete paperwork and attend meetings/training.
  • Limited work in wind, rain and snow weather conditions.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum Education:High School Diploma. 
  • A valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
  • Education/Training in Arboriculture or PHC an asset.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE.
  • Valid Colorado Certified Operator pesticide license or equivalent required.
  • Familiar with Plant I.D. and treatment options an asset.
  • Proficient at local tree identification (native and ornamental) and tree physiology.
  • Proficient at diagnosing common biotic and abiotic tree and landscape issues.
  • Ability to work, travel, and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather when required.
  • Ability to successfully complete continuing education extension courses and obtain other industry specific licenses and certifications.
